🔧 Build a Career in Aviation with SAAT

South African Airways Technical (SAAT) invites young, passionate South African citizens to apply for the 2026 Technical Apprenticeship / Learnership Programme. This programme is designed for individuals who are eager to build a long-term career in aircraft maintenance and aviation technical trades.

Successful candidates will receive structured theoretical and practical training in an approved aviation trade, equipping them with the skills required to meet industry and regulatory standards.


🛠️ Trades Offered

Applicants may select two trades in order of preference:

1. Aircraft Welding

  • Welding and repairing aircraft and engine components
  • Plasma spraying and heat treatment
  • Manufacturing aircraft parts and tooling

2. Aircraft Spray Painting

  • Corrosion prevention
  • Repairing paint coatings
  • Applying protective coatings
  • Painting aircraft interiors and exteriors

3. Aircraft Trimming

  • Manufacturing and repairing aircraft interiors
  • Inspecting and maintaining survival equipment

4. Aircraft Composite Structures

  • Manufacturing and repairing composite aircraft components
  • Inspection and maintenance of composite structures

🎓 Minimum Educational Requirements

Option 1: Grade 12 (Matric)

  • Mathematics: 50% or Level 4 (Pure Mathematics)
  • Physical Science: 50% or Level 4
  • English: Pass required

OR

Option 2: N3 Certificate

  • Mathematics: 50%
  • Engineering Science: 50%

🧠 Knowledge & Skills

  • Ability to read and write in English (essential)
  • Basic technical or mechanical understanding (advantageous)
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately
  • Good communication skills
