🌍 Be Part of Botswana’s Exciting Underground Mining Transition
Lucara Botswana (Pty) Ltd, owner of the Karowe Diamond Mine in Letlhakane, is transitioning from open-pit operations to an advanced underground mining operation. The project includes the construction of two vertical shafts (Production and Ventilation), followed by lateral development and ore extraction.
To support this major development, applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Trainer – Electrical Trades.
🎯 Role Purpose
Reporting to the Operational Readiness Lead, the Trainer – Electrical Trades will:
- Conduct training needs analyses
- Design, deliver, and evaluate technical electrical training programs
- Enhance workforce electrical engineering competencies
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and company training policies
- Support operational readiness for underground mining
🛠 Key Responsibilities
- Conduct and establish training needs analysis
- Develop and deliver electrical engineering training programmes
- Apply appropriate training methodologies aligned with OEM requirements
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training interventions
- Manage training administration processes
- Ensure compliance with Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) standards
📚 Minimum Requirements
- National Craft Certificate (NCC) / Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification experience in training and development (mining experience preferred)
- Strong knowledge of:
- Power distribution systems
- Motor control
- PLCs
- High-voltage systems
- Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA) Registered Trainer/Assessor
- Train-the-Trainer and Assessor certification (BQA or SAQA aligned)
- Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS)
- Excellent facilitation and presentation skills
