Role Overview
This fixed-term position is based in Mokopane, Limpopo. The Utility Vehicle Operator will ensure the safe, efficient, and high-standard operation of utility vehicles and support activities within the mine.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate vehicles safely and efficiently according to company standards.
• Conduct pre-use inspections and basic maintenance.
• Clean and maintain the vehicle as per schedule.
• Identify and report technical issues requiring specialist attention.
• Communicate operational challenges to the Shift/Team Supervisor.
• Follow all machinery and equipment safety procedures.
• Suggest improvements for operational effectiveness.
• Use proper tools and assist with loading/unloading when needed.
• Adhere to all load, safety, and driving requirements, including safe following distances.
• Report completed tasks to supervisors.
• Follow daily/weekly work instructions and ensure clarity of assigned duties.
• Practice recognised safety, driving, and work standards.
• Report injuries, unsafe conditions, or unsafe acts immediately.
• Meet required quality standards for all tasks.
• Participate in weekly safety meetings and raise safety concerns where necessary.
• Support teamwork and collaborate effectively with support staff.
• Assist engineering teams with vehicle maintenance when required.
• Reinforce safety procedures and identify unsafe behaviour.
• Request stock items accurately and on time.
• Prepare clear, accurate shift reports.

This role falls under Band 9 and reports to the Engineering Foreman.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 certificate.
• Valid EB/Code 08 or Code 10 driver’s licence.
• Valid Code C1 or C driver’s licence.
• Valid Public Driver’s Permit (PDP).

Experience & Skills

• Minimum 3 years’ heavy-vehicle driving experience.
• Appropriate VTS grading.
• Certified as a Utility Vehicle Operator.
• Strong safe-driving skills, including awareness and safe following distances.
• Knowledge of traffic laws and regulations.
• Ability to safely transport hazardous materials (if required).
• Emergency response knowledge.
• Good communication skills.
