Company Overview

De Beers Group offers an exciting opportunity for a Warehouse Assistant on a 6-month fixed-term contract. The role focuses on carrying out all tasks related to receiving, storing, moving, and delivering goods within the operation.

As part of Kumba Iron Ore, a global leader in high-grade iron ore production, you will contribute to a business that plays a vital role in manufacturing and construction worldwide. The company operates mines in the Northern Cape, with additional offices in Gauteng and Western Cape.


Key Responsibilities

  • Follow all health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Demonstrate professionalism and uphold company values
  • Collaborate with supervisors, colleagues, and stakeholders to support business goals
  • Participate in SLAMs, HPHs, risk assessments, and safety action close-outs
  • Assist with resolving GRV system queries
  • Carry out inventory movement tasks, including receiving, binning, picking, delivering, and relocating stock
  • Report any stock discrepancies, errors, or equipment damages
  • Maintain organized storage areas according to design principles and engineering guidelines
  • Apply 5S housekeeping practices to maintain a clean working environment
  • Assist with access control and ensure proper use of materials-handling equipment
  • Use FIFO principles when rotating and picking stock
  • Support accurate stock records through cycle counts, bin checks, labeling, and moving redundant items
  • Prepare reports, identify variances, and support improvement initiatives
  • Handle and submit required documentation such as logs, reports, and forms
  • Oversee materials issued for plant operations
  • Help improve OTIF (On-Time, In-Full) receiving and issuing processes
  • Provide support with more complex operational tasks

This role is positioned in the Commercial (CML) NC department at Band A4 level.


Qualifications

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Supply Chain or Logistics certificate (NQF 4) – preferred
  • Valid South African Driver’s License

Technical Requirements

  • 1–2 years’ warehouse experience
  • Computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP)
  • Ability to follow structured, knowledge-based problem-solving methods
  • Understanding of discipline-specific standards and best practices
  • Basic project and resource coordination abilities
