ARTISAN PRODUCTION (GRADE A–C: WELDING)

Salary:

  • Grade A: R243 597 per annum
  • Grade B: R285 816 per annum
  • Grade C: R332 061 per annum
    Location: Groote Schuur Hospital, Observatory

Requirements:

  • Qualification: Valid Trade Test Certificate in Welding.
  • Experience:
    • Grade A: No experience required.
    • Grade B: Minimum of 18 years relevant experience after obtaining the Trade Test Certificate.
    • Grade C: Minimum of 34 years relevant experience after obtaining the Trade Test Certificate.
  • Inherent Job Requirements:
    • Valid driver’s licence.
    • Willingness to work overtime, standby, and attend to after-hours emergency repairs.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong knowledge of welding techniques (ARC, MIG, TIG, and gas).
    • Ability to read and work from engineering drawings.
    • Understanding of fabrication and metal finishing.
    • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and within a team, with good planning and prioritisation abilities.

Duties:

  • Provide support and guidance to Artisan Assistants and Apprentices.
  • Adhere to safety standards and use appropriate PPE at all times.
  • Complete job cards, requisitions, and maintenance reports.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and ensure workshop cleanliness.
  • Assist with mechanical installations and modifications.
  • Manufacture, repair, and maintain metal structures, brackets, frames, and components.
  • Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication on hospital equipment, infrastructure, and plant systems.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Qualification:
    • Senior Certificate (or equivalent) with Mathematics and/or Accountancy, or
    • Senior Certificate (or equivalent) with relevant experience aligned to the Key Performance Areas of the role.
  • Experience: Relevant experience with Health Sector commodities.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Experience:
    • Relevant experience using CLINICOM.
    • Experience with ICD-10 coding.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel.
    • Knowledge of Hospital Fees policies, Chapter 18, HIS/CLINICOM, UPFS, billing systems, and ICD-10 coding.

Duties:

    • Working knowledge of LOGIS and BAS.
