Requirements:
- National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) and an NQF Level 6 qualification or equivalent in Records Management or a related field.
- A valid driver’s licence will be an added advantage.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of the National Archives and Records Services Act and Minimum Information Security Standards (MISS).
- Familiarity with records management policies, procedures, and manuals.
- Understanding of legislative frameworks related to records management, such as the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA).
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safeguard current, closed, and terminated departmental records.
- File and retrieve records in compliance with the National Archives Act and other applicable prescripts.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant legislation and records management standards.
- Develop and maintain all registers used by the registry.
- Oversee the proper control, custody, and tracking of departmental records.
- Deliver efficient and effective registry services to both internal and external clients.
- Implement records management policies and procedures.
- Ensure correct use of the departmental file plan, indexing, and referencing of documents.
- Recommend records for archiving or disposal as required.
- Handle all incoming and outgoing mail.
- Assist in compiling reports related to records management activities.
